In the beginning...

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"”
-Winnie the Pooh-
  • Before I begin, why I chose the quote: it's easy to take yourself too seriously when you sit down to write. When I sit down and try to put words on a page, or screen in this case, I find I have a definite flair for the dramatic. Routine events have a tendency of becoming the stuff of legend in my imagination; maybe to everyone else something I saw or did seemed mundane, but in my sometimes skewed perspective of reality it may have been enough to stop the Earth from spinning. I hope that if at some point I feel the overwhelming urge to make something seem more extraoridinary than it actually is or was, I will look to this first post and note "This blog began with a quote from a cartoon bear who wears no pants."

This maiden voyage into the world of blogging comes on the heels of one of the longest and most eventful weekends of my life. For now I will avoid getting into any of the details, but the concept of a messy mind seems particularly appropriate at the moment. As to the other portion of the title- it can be assumed for the duration of this blog's existence that my desk is always cluttered. All of that said, I suppose I should give some sort of mission statement. I should, but I won't. That is partly because I don't entirely know why I've started this blog, or what exactly I plan on writing from here on out- but rest assured, you will be the first to know when I figure that out. Until the next time...
